 THE TRUTH ABOUT VACCINE DISTRIBUTION

We now know, as reported by Baltimore Sun last week, that contrary to the state health officials’ claims of an equitable vaccine distribution system based on population sizes, Montgomery and other largest counties’ health departments received the lowest doses for the first two and half months of the vaccination process. 

Apparently, because the Maryland Department of Health put Montgomery County in the same tier as all other “large” counties with over 200,000 residents, we ended up getting the same minimum doses - 975 doses per week, as much smaller counties like Harford County which has a quarter of our population size. At the same time, some of the smallest counties got the largest share. 

While things are improving with time and supply, the House and the Senate continue to put pressure on the state health officials for much greater data transparency and accountability, which has been sorely lacking.
